Centre for Education Growth and Research (CEGR)

Introduction

Education is one of the most powerful instruments for reducing poverty and inequality, and key to enhancing India’s competitiveness in the global economy. Therefore, ensuring access to quality education for all, in particular for the poor and rural population, is central to the economic and social development of India. In today's world, governments are grappling with new educational issues which are more employment-centric and require complex delivery systems with appropriate legislative back up. Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are also progressively getting involved in nation building processes in the Education domain through advocacy for qualitative, innovative and employability-enhancing education and preparing the next generation as future leaders. With a view to educating bureaucratic community, opinion makers, civil society and NGOs to participate actively in shaping and implementing policy issues relating to the education sector in the public domain through responsible policy analysis and management tools, the Centre for Education Growth & Research (CEGR) has been set-up. The Centre collaborates pro-actively with other similar entities to meet its primary objectives.
